Private equity insights panel and workshop 2026

Yesterday we hosted our annual Private Equity Insights workshop in partnership with NZ Private Capital.

The day brought together leading voices from across New Zealand's private capital community to explore the full investment lifecycle, from fundraising and fund management through to investment strategy, value creation and investment committee decision-making.

We began with a discussion on fundraising and the fund lifecycle, led by NZ Private Capital Executive Director Colin McKinnon and featuring Sian Orr (NZ Super Fund) and Philippa Weston (Pencarrow Private Equity), who shared insights into what limited partners look for when evaluating fund opportunities.

The programme then turned to how private equity managers create value when assessing and managing assets. Chaired by Mayne Wetherell Partner Cameron Reeves, the panel featured Ben Flay (Pioneer Capital), Max Harrison (Milford Asset Management) and Lachlan Hughes (Potentia), who shared their perspectives on investment strategy, portfolio management and value creation.

The afternoon concluded with an interactive investment committee case study, facilitated by Mayne Wetherell Partners Jane Innes-Jones and Cameron Reeves. Participants presented a proposed investment to an Investment Committee comprising Harriet Lambert and Simon Kriechbaum of Five V Capital.
