Michael Pritchard, one of our corporate partners, is retiring from the partnership at the end of this year and taking on the role of CEO of Masthead, the investment vehicle of the Stewart family and a client of the firm since its inception.

For over 15 years, Michael has been a driving force behind the growth of our corporate practice and its consistent delivery of exceptional client service.  During that time, he has led many of the firm’s high‑profile transactions, including the sale of Ziwi and 2degrees’ merger with Vocus NZ.

Reflecting on his time with the firm, Michael observed:

“It has been a privilege to help grow our corporate practice and to work alongside such talented and committed colleagues.  I’m proud of the unique firm we’ve built together and grateful for the opportunities, challenges and friendships that have come with it. It has been an honour to advise our clients on their most high‑value and complex transactions.  I leave knowing the corporate practice is in excellent hands with Matthew Olsen, Charlotte Garland, Sherryn Harford and Cameron Reeves, whose energy and leadership will take the team from strength to strength.”

Matthew Olsen commented:

“It is a bittersweet moment for the partnership as we will miss his presence but are thrilled to see him take on this opportunity.  We have no doubt he will bring the same vision, integrity and excellence to Masthead as he has for us over the years, and we look forward to working with him as a client.”

On behalf of the partners and staff at Mayne Wetherell, we congratulate Michael on this significant appointment and wish him every success in his future endeavours.
